THE ARTERY GRAND OPENING HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER
The Hopkins community is throwing a party to celebrate the new multi-modal connection on 8th Avenue! The family-friendly event will feature games, art and biking – all taking place in the street between Mainstreet and Excelsior Boulevard.
Saturday, June 2, 2018 Beginning at noon on 8th Avenue South
A ribbon cutting will be held at noon with birthday cake to celebrate Hopkins' 125th birthday!
In the event of rain, the grand opening will be cancelled.
Grab a loaner bike from the Three Rivers Park District and test out the new bike lanes
Hear from the artists who created art for the Artery
2 and 3 p.m.: James Brenner, the artist who created the sculpture in front of the Moline at 8th Avenue S and Excelsior Boulevard, will speak about the inspiration behind his piece
2:30 and 3:30 p.m.: Stan Sears will talk about his dragonfly wing road closure piece
Participate in public art projects
Bring a 4x6 photo depicting your life in Hopkins in 2018 for the Community Photo Album!
Listen to live music
Noon to 1:30 p.m. The Hopkins Westwind Concert Band Chamber groups will perform in front of the Moline
Noon to 12:40 p.m.: The Depot Collective band will perform at the Artery plaza
1 to 1:40 p.m.: Rhyme or Reason will perform at the Artery plaza
Play a variety of games, including table tennis, cornhole, giant Jenga and more
Bring donations to Stuff the Squad for the ICA Food Shelf
