BUCKTHORN REMOVAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY IS NOVEMBER 4Join the City of Hopkins for a volunteer event to remove buckthorn and learn how to manage it on Saturday, November 4, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Shady Oak Pond (located at the intersection of 21st Avenue and 2nd Street N). Buckthorn is an invasive shrub that outcompetes native plants and takes over forest floors, preventing other plant regeneration. This invasive species has become an increasingly large problem in the Midwest and management is key for the health of our city’s environment. Learn more about buckthorn and sign-up to volunteer.
