Cops N Kids Fishing Nominations Due May 19

The Hopkins Police Department is now accepting nominations for Cops N Kids Fishing coming up on Thursday, June 12. Cops N Kids Fishing is a mentoring program for fourth and fifth graders who are identified by community members as needing an additional opportunity for a positive role model experience. Working in partnership with local school districts and teachers, as well as donations from residents and businesses, HPD is able to educate participants on the importance of respecting our natural resources and encourage them to enjoy the outdoor recreational opportunities, all while fostering positive relationships with the police. Learn more and submit a nomination.

Garlic Mustard Removal Volunteer Event is May 31

Join the City of Hopkins for a volunteer event to remove garlic mustard and learn how to manage it on Saturday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Shady Oak Pond, 151 Shady Oak Road N. Garlic mustard is an invasive species that outcompetes native plants and takes over forest floors, preventing other plant regeneration. This invasive species has become an increasingly large problem in the Midwest and management is key for the health of our city’s environment. Sign-up to volunteer.

Energy Assistance Still Available

Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County’s (CAP-HC’s) Energy Assistance Program can help pay your utility bills between October 1, 2024 and May 31, 2025. If you’re an eligible applicant, you may receive a grant paid directly to your utility provider that reduces your expenses.
