Rain Barrel Sale Opens February 28The City of Hopkins is partnering with the Recycling Association of Minnesota to offer a rain barrel sale to Hopkins area residents. Rain barrels are $100 each and are made of 100% recycled material, can hold 45 gallons of water, and come with a shut-off valve, hose and debris screen kit. Pick-up will be in mid-May at Hopkins Public Works. Rain barrels can be purchased through Recycling Association of Minnesota on the City of Hopkins website.

Get the Wiggles Out at Turf TotsBring your children (ages 1 to 5) to the Hopkins Pavilion for Turf Tots, a drop-in program, beginning Thursday, March 5, and wrapping up Wednesday, April 9. Kids can run and play with provided equipment including sport balls, crawl tunnels, bounce houses, climbing walls and more. Adults are required to stay on the field and supervise. Order Trees Through the Hopkins Tree SaleIn partnership with Tree Trust, Hopkins Public Works is offering a limited number of trees at a discounted price of $40 each. The sale is open online now. Trees must be planted by residents on private property in Hopkins, not within the boulevard or public right-of-way. Trees will be available for pick-up on May 2 at Hopkins Public Works, 11100 Excelsior Boulevard. This will be the only tree pick-up date. There is a two tree limit per household. Note: Trees provided through the program do not come with a warranty.

Waste Prevention Grants AvailableBusinesses and nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply for Hennepin County’s waste prevention grants. Areas of focus include reuse and repair, replacing disposables with reusables, food waste prevention and projects around research and development to prevent waste. Eligible properties are located between 5th Avenue and Shady Oak Road and between 1st Street N and 1st Street S.
