The Hopkins Police Department encourages residents to sign up for Smart911™.
What is Smart911™?
Smart911™ is a free, app-based technology, that allows users to provide critical information to first responders during an emergency.
Individuals and families can sign up online to fill out a profile, providing as much or as little information as they wish. The information is only seen by authorized 911 dispatchers or first responders.
How Does Smart911™ Work?
When a user makes an emergency call, their Safety Profile is automatically displayed to the 911 call taker. Users can choose to provide information that can help first responders, such as:
- Emergency contact information
- Medical information, including mental health
- Number of people and pets on the property
- Location data
- Two-way messaging from dispatchers to callers
Users can also link other phone numbers to their profile, so only one household member needs to create a profile.
This service is provided by Hennepin County at no cost to the public; however, message and data rates may apply depending on your provider and phone services. Please refer to your mobile phone's service plan for more information.
